Today I replaced the florescent fixture that I installed sixteen years ago with a custom set of under cabinet LED lights that a contractor friend gave me. "Free is always a great price!" Now we have lighting spanning both cabinets instead of one light above the coffee pot.

Back door repair
Our back door frame had developed wood rot on the bottom left corner so I spent a few hours yesterday cutting out the rotten wood and repairing it with pressure treated wood. I also replaced the threshold plate since I had to remove it to do the repair.

Hard working pup takes a nap!
Poor Marco worked so hard this morning helping me with the door repair that he needed an afternoon nap, lol!
Repairing the side garage door.
Over the years our garage door suffered a rotted threshold plate and need to be replaced. I priced a new pre-hung door and found the $289.00 price tag a bit steep so decided to do the repair myself with Marco’s help!
Replacing the threshold plate. Marco is standing guard at the top right, lol!
Rot removed from both sides of the door frame and plate. Install all new pressure treated lumber and repainted! Since I used lumber, sealant and paint I already had the cost of repair was zero!

Japanese ATV
Today was an exciting day on NASA TV as the Japanese ATV (Automated transfer Vehicle) approached and docked with the International Space Station. I got up at 5:30AM to watch but was disappointed when video signal was lost during the approach and I was treated to an animation, lol! NASA finally showed the filmed approach and docking video taken from the cupola. It was a fantastic view!

My Shop
If you have been following the family blog you have no doubt seen that I have been very busy in my spare time working on house hold projects/honey do lists such as the bedroom beautification project, wooden floors in the hall and stairway and wooden floors in the den to name a few.
I thought it might be nice to post a few pictures of my shop in the basement. It is well equipped and comfortable to work in. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Cold Weather Marco Napping!
During our recent cold wave Marco retreated under a blanket to have his mid day nap exposing only his nose for breathing, lol!
Marco tried so hard to stay awake during yesterdays Falcon football game but lost the battle by half time!
Painted Headboard
Today I painted our headboard project with two coats of satin antique black paint and installed felt foot pads to protect our new wooded floor. I’ll let it dry over night and install it tomorrow.

The snow started around 11PM Sunday evening at the rate of an inch per hour. This storm turned out to be greater than our November 1993 storm!

Maddy and Roxy
Pope John Paul II declared in a public audience
in 1990 that "also the animals possess a soul and
men must love and feel solidarity with our smaller brethren".
He said, too, that they are the "fruit of the creative
action of the Holy Spirit and merit respect," and are
as near to God as men are."
Amen to that!

Our wonderful niece Maddy lost her dog Roxy today.

then when I die I want to go
where they went."
