Trip to Gatlinburg TN

Last weekend the family gathered in Gatlinburg TN to spread Judd’s ashes in his beloved Smoky Mountains. Beth headed up on Sunday and Marco and I drove up leaving at 6 AM!

6 AM was a bit early for my copilot, lol!

Pit stop along the way!

Finally made it to the hotel where we were glad to see Beth and take a short nap!

The Smoky Mountains.

While driving around the Smoky Mountain National Forrest we happened upon this Bear Cub far up in a tree. I suggested to the family that we stay in our car to take pictures as Momma Bear may be nearby!

Marco barked at this poor deer, lol!

This passing thunderstorm forced our lunch party into our cars.

A Tennessee Mountain dog!

Yummy!!

Hummingbirds Return 2012

After several sightings from friends in Canada and the Pacific Northwest  I put out our feeders in hopes of catching a customer.

Our first customer of the season.

Deck Project Complete.

Looking from the backyard on to the new extension.

The new extension from the side yard.

View of the garden and the new deck extension.

We refurbished our old green patio table and chairs by painting them brown and replacing our umbrella canvas with a new brown one from Amazon.com.

Looking down the new deck to the old and backdoor! We also found new cushions at Kroger for our existing patio chairs.

Backyard Deck Expansion Project May 2012

Home Depot delivers all the materials for the deck expansion project early Saturday morning.

All the materials neatly wrapped are off loaded to the driveway edge ready for the project to begin Monday morning.

Day one and the post and stringers are installed.

Looking from where the steps will be.

You can see here where we tied into the old deck and along the side of the house.

By the end of the day Tuesday the decking was down and most of the railings were installed.

We re-used the old stairway from the original deck and sat it on concrete piers.

We constructed and installed a really dog gate so our four legged family members and hang out on the deck too! They really seem to enjoy the freedom to lay around.
